2008 Management Seminar Series
Management Seminar Series and Program Meetings
Management Seminar Series Goals
An opportunity for NIH Interns, administrative, and scientific staff to obtain or further strengthen management skills through discussions and learning experiences addressing core management issues (e.g., leading change, cultural awareness, team building, how to motivate staff, how to evaluate performance, positive discipline, etc.) as well as learn more about the NIH and NIH-related issues (e.g., DHHS, Congressional authorizations, appropriations, etc.). An opportunity for NIH interns to take away a "big picture context" that might not always be available in rotations by meeting senior staff and learning how they fit into the NIH structure.
An opportunity for NIH Interns to hone and apply management skills such as planning, teamwork, organization, public speaking, time management, resourcefulness and networking through the conceptualization, planning and implementation of the Management Seminar Series.
